Novotel Nha Trang – A Popular Place to Stay along the Vietnam Riviera

Novotel Nha Trang is a popular hotel right on the Nha Trang foreshore. It’s not ‘on the beach’ because few hotels in Nha Trang are. The hotel is just behind on Tran Phu Boulevard which runs along the foreshore. It’s a couple of blocks down from the iconic pink lotus tower, and about a 5-minute walk or so to the fancier hotels namely the Intercontinental and the Sheraton.

Novotel Nha Trang – An Illustrious Pedigree

  • Member of the Accor Group
  • 4-Star Rating

Novotel is a familiar hotel brand. It’s part of the Accor hotel group which is the largest hospitality group in Europe. It’s also the third largest in the world managing some 38 hospitality brands.

Novotel hotels were actually the core foundation of the brand that became Accor. Novotel is mid-scale alongside other Accor hotels in Vietnam such as Mercure. The ibis Styles, also in Nha Trang, is one of their economy brands.

On the premium end are Pullman Hotels and Resorts as well as the Banyan Tree Lang Co Resort between Danang and Hue. For Accor luxury hotels in Vietnam you’ll find Sofitel hotels and the award winning design MGallery in Sapa.

What to Expect at Novotel Nha Trang

The advantage of a brand name hotel is that you more or less know what to expect. If you sign up for an Accor account, you have the privilege of deals and offers for loyalty bookings at any of their group hotels.

Kids Stay Free at Novotel

One reason Novotel is a popular choice is their family-oriented approach. Depending on room availability, a maximum of two children under the age of 16 sleep free in the same room. Extra bedding or the sofa bed is made available. With the sofa bed in use, the rooms do get rather cramped.

Families with older children, or who prefer to book an extra room, will receive the second room at a 50% discount. Novotel Nha Trang has interconnecting rooms and they are pretty good with locating families together. Kids who stay free also get the buffet free.

Newer Novotel hotels, or Accor hotels like ibisStyles in Nha Trang, generally have a kids play area and kids club activities. Novotel Nha Trang is a little dated, so there is no play area. Organized activities are only for Accor members, but their fun Kids ‘n Cook events are open to all for around 300 000 VND.

Rooms at Novotel Nha Trang

The best thing about Novotel Nha Trang is the rooms. Even though the decor may be a little out-of-style, all rooms are well-maintained and pretty spacious.

Furthermore, their most affordable standard rooms have sea-and-city balcony views. So even if you’re not that flash, you won’t get priced out of the view. Another favorite of these rooms is the large, step down rain shower.

Superior rooms all have sea views and a fold-out sofa bed. Superior ocean view rooms have 180° view balconies with table seating outside. These rooms are also large enough to take an extra bed.

Various deluxe and executive rooms can include things like 24-hour in-room dining, an a-la-carte breakfast served on your balcony, or Bluetooth speaker systems. The suites include automatic coffee making machines and comfy armchairs.

Novotel Nha Trang has just one restaurant namely, The Square. It’s well managed and does an excellent spread of Vietnamese and French fusion cuisine. They also have vegetarian set lunch options.

Their themed buffet events are very popular. They range from different national cuisines to seafood BBQ events. Especially popular are holidays like Halloween, Valentines, and Christmas. However, during pandemic periods you may have to default to a-la-carte.

In addition you will also find a relaxing lobby bar lounge with snacks, and an outdoor bar by the 3rd floor pool.

Fitness and Leisure

Many 4-star hotels like to sport a ‘gym’ which more often than not is just a workout room. The gym at Novotel Nha Trang is actually pretty decent for a 4-star hotel.

For cardio, they have running, walking, and cycling machines. For muscle training there’s a flat bench, a reclining leg curl, and a cable machine. There are full length mirrors and a special section with free weights and exercise balls.

The pool is more to the rear and side of the hotel. There is a nice view and a kids’ section. However, it doesn’t get a lot of sunlight, isn’t heated, and for some it’s rather chill. The attached rooftop bar is a nice place to hang out.

Spa and Beauty

The Novotel Nha Trang spa has a lounge, a steam room, sauna, and a footbath. They have a full range of massages including couple’s massage. There is also a special 120-min lesson where you can learn how to do a good massage. Another special is their hot wax massage. The spa is on the 3rd floor near the gym and the outdoor pool.

Down by the Beach

Novotel Nha Trang has an ideal beach location. There are free loungers and umbrellas for guests provided by the hotel on this public beach. You can also reserve your spot in the sun if things look kind of crowded. You have to cross the double road to get there, but it’s away from any busy intersection. The pedestrian crossing is right nearby.

Digital Access and App Accessibility

Many hotels are moving in the direction of more contactless check-ins, or check-ins that are largely self-managed. Accor has two guest applications for mobile devices. One is the Accor All app for booking any hotel of the Accor group through your app.

For new or upgraded hotels there is the Accor Key app where you can check-in through the app, and use the App to open your electronic door. The app also grants access areas such as lifts, the fitness center, and swimming pool without the need of an attendant.

Accor Key, launched in 2021, is not available at Novotel Nha Trang.

The Novotel Nha Trang has great views and for a good hotel on the foreshore, it’s a reasonable enough choice for the price. Additionally, customer care and service are well up to standard. Overall, the hotel and facilities are little dated and as such, you don’t quite get the best value for the price point expected of a Novotel hotel.

Novotel Nha Trang also has Accor ALLSAFE certification.
